Work Experience

Presently working as a Dean, Principal & Professor in the department of General Surgery at PESU-IMSR, Electronic City, Bengaluru. It is a medical college and hospital situated in Electronic City, Bengaluru, Karnataka. As a Dean & Principal, my routine involves:

1. Academic Leadership:

  • Developing and implementing educational policies and programs in accordance with regulatory bodies and accreditation standards.
  • Managing the faculty and staff responsible for medical education, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluations
  • Supervising curriculum development, ensuring it remains current and aligned with industry trends and best practices.
  • Promoting research and academic excellence within the institution.

2. Administrative Duties:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the medical college and hospital.
  • Managing budgets, allocating resources, and ensuring efficient financial management.
  • Handling admissions and student affairs, including the admission process and student support services.
  • Addressing disciplinary issues and conflicts among faculty, staff, and students.

3. Healthcare Management:

  • Ensuring the highest quality of patient care within the hospital.
  • Collaborating with medical directors, department heads, and nursing staff to maintain and improve healthcare services.
  • Monitoring healthcare outcomes, patient satisfaction, and compliance with medical standards.
  • Implementing healthcare policies and procedures to maintain patient safety and regulatory compliance.

4. Liaison and Community Engagement:

  • Building relationships with medical associations, accrediting bodies, and government agencies.
  • Engaging with the local community to promote the college and hospital's role in healthcare delivery and education.
  • Collaborating with other healthcare institutions and professionals for research and clinical opportunities.

5. Strategic Planning:

  • Developing long-term strategies and goals for the institution.
  • Adapting to changes in healthcare policies, technology, and medical advancements.
  • Identifying opportunities for growth and expansion, such as introducing new programs or services.

6. Accreditation and Compliance:

  • Ensuring that the medical college and hospital maintain accreditation and compliance with relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Preparing for and participating in accreditation reviews and assessments.

As Professor of General Surgery Department, my routine duty involves managing outpatient department twice a week. OPD timings are from 9am to 4 pm, The OPDs usually have an input of 100-150 patients a day. Once a week we have operation days where we do routine elective surgeries. Rest of the days in a week I overlook the treatment of post operative and in-patients along with my junior faculty and also engage in the bed side clinics.

My special interest lies in Advanced Gastrointestinal Surgery and Laparoscopy. Qualified Abdominal wall reconstruction surgeon (AWR); Qualified Metabolic & Bariatric Surgeon.

I am deeply passionate about teaching. I engage in regular bedside teaching and also take up theory classes. In my free time I am involved in doing research work and publishing interesting clinical cases and case
series in journals.

I am actively involved in doing my bit in organizing surgery CME programs in our hospital. Has 25 years experience, having performed 25,000+ major surgeries. Been a visiting laparoscopic surgeon to SAARC countries like Srilanka, Maldives.

I have been the Chief of General Surgery department at People tree MEENAKSHI HOSPITALS. I have also been a consultant at PRASHANT HOSPITAL, Bengaluru.
